Author and St. Clair High School (SCHS) graduate Steve Copling is returning to the area for a private party and book signing. The event will be featuring his latest book, “Sage Alexander and the Hall of Nightmares,” the first novel in his young adult fantasy series based on the seven deadly sins.

Copling will be at SCHS Friday, April 21. A private party will take place from 6-7 p.m., followed by the public signing from 7-9 p.m. in the high school auditorium. A limited number of books will be available for purchase.

Copling has written two others books, “The Listener” and “The Shooting Season,” which are part of a different series.

The author graduated from SCHS in 1977. According to his website, Copling has 35 years of experience in law enforcement and security and now serves as a captain at the Plano, Texas police department. He currently lives in McKinney, Texas, with his wife; he has three sons and five grandchildren.

A virtual reality experience promoted at the event is available on Apple and Google Play. The game corresponds with chapter 14 in the book, and is a 3D experience that takes the viewer into the Prince of Greed’s dungeon.

The script for a possible movie adaptation of the book is in development at Lionsgate, according to a representative at Innersight Pictures. The entertainment company is waiting to see how the book sells before moving on the project.

What is School Publications?

School Publications, is a creative journalism class at St. Clair High School (SCHS). The class is comprised of 15 SCHS students and their adviser, Mrs. Kara Bell. The seventh-hour class is based upon the fundamentals of multimedia journalism. Through reporting, interviewing, taking meaningful pictures, designing significant social media posts and crafting relevant stories, SCHS School Publications aims to promote the achievements of the high school student body, faculty and staff. SCHS is bursting with stories, and we strive to tell them.

Our Mission Statement:

To encourage the student body, staff, and faculty of SCHS, past and present, by telling their stories to the best of our ability through outlets such as the high school’s website, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
